bethany beach bungalow living room
this bright and bohemian living room inspiration started with the idea of creating a space using shibori, a Japanese dying technique. i found the rug and made that the statement of the room. it is from ruggable and can be washed in the washing machine. perfect for sandy toes. the giant abstract painting on the wall is from a local consignment shop and that instantly provided the mint and indigo color scheme. the house has no closet so we used the marta storage cabinet from urban outfitters and wall hooks as the spot to put your stuff when you walk in the front door. this house is tiny but it needs to work for a family of five, so a corner sectional gives everyone a place to gather and still leaves the space open. we used a slipcover made just for the ikea sectional from comfort works that can be easily washed and dried making the beachy look of a white sofa possible. beach blankets, tassled throws and a vintage ottoman are practical but add a pop of color and texture. the rattan chair was a home goods find and the leather stools by the front door were left in the house by the previous owner.
